Lafayette, Tates Creek win Region 6 cross-country titles

The Lafayette boys and the Tates Creek girls won the Class 3A Region 6 cross-country team titles Nov. 5 at Falling Springs Park and Recreation Center. The Generals’ girls and the Commodores’ boys were runners-up in the 5000-meter race.

On the boys’ side, Paul Laurence Dunbar was third, followed by Henry Clay. Among the girls’ teams, Dunbar finished fourth. The top four teams advance to the state meet, set for Nov. 12 at the Kentucky Horse Park.

Among the top individual efforts, Andrew Kirk of Henry Clay clocked an even 17:00, Kevin Ross of Bryan Station was runner-up (17:08), and Brian Rugg of Lafayette finished third (17:12). Station’s Justin Chlebowy (18:10) also qualified for state.

In the girls’ division, Lafayette’s Mia Cornette came in at 19:34, and Tates Creek’s Emma Anderson was third (20:08). Macy Early of Henry Clay (21:51) also advances this weekend.
