Fayette County Public Schools boasts four of the 30 schools in Kentucky receiving VSA Arts Inclusion Awards, which recognize outstanding hands-on projects for students of all abilities.
Bryan Station High and Millcreek, Veterans Park and Yates elementary schools earned $1,200 awards from VSA Kentucky, an arts and disability organization that advocates a society where people with disabilities can learn through, participate in and enjoy the arts.
VSA Kentucky, in partnership with the Kentucky Department of Education, offers educational programs throughout the Commonwealth – often involving artists-in-residence. The goal is to provide rich experiences in the arts for all children in mainstream settings. This is a chance for classroom teachers (academic, special education, art teachers) and artists (in dance, drama, music, puppetry, storytelling or visual arts) to work together on inclusive projects.
