Fayette County Public Schools raised $64,836 to improve the lives of Central Kentuckians through its annual United Way fundraising campaign. In addition to employee contributions, elementary students chipped in through the new “Change for Change” drive.
United Way of the Bluegrass will use the donations for education, income and health programs, ultimately moving families from crisis to stability to sustainability.
FCPS’s fall campaign was a major increase over the previous effort, up 72 percent.
At “It’s About Kids” Support Services, the Student Support Services Department delivered the highest total contributions.
Many schools also saw sharp increases in employee support. Russell Cave Elementary had the greatest increase per capita and will receive the grand prize of a SMART Board or other technology support. Glendover Elementary had the largest increase in donations over last year, and Southside Technical Center had the highest percent participation.
The students’ “Change for Change” drive raised more than $12,750 as part of the overall campaign. Cassidy Elementary had the most contributions per capita and will receive a prize sponsored by Valvoline.
