The University of Kentucky College of Education’s “Teachers Who Made a Difference” program recently honored its 2011 group of educators who have had a significant impact in the lives of their students.
More than 140 people from nine states, including two dozen in Fayette County Public Schools, were invited to an April 30 breakfast reception and program at the UK Student Center. The honorees included these FCPS employees:
Claudine Barrow, Rosa Parks Elementary; Kristina Blair, Millcreek Elementary; Lori Bowen, elementary science content specialist; Kim Cooper, special education resource specialist; Grant Davis, Clays Mill Elementary; Staci Davis, Southern Middle School; Linda Dewees, Henry Clay High School; Dolly Dressman, Jessie Clark Middle School; Rebecca Farmer, special education resource specialist; Meghan Finley, Paul Laurence Dunbar High School; John David Friend, Southern Middle; Lauren Gallicchio, Bryan Station High School; Bretta Hulcha, Glendover Elementary; Jan Lane, Glendover Elementary; Sarah Lawson, Stonewall Elementary; Andrea Marcum, Arlington Elementary; Melissa Melton, Veterans Park Elementary; Matthew Noblin, Sandersville Elementary; Lisa Osterman, Tates Creek High School; Rebecca Puckett, Veterans Park Elementary; Kathy Roberts, Veterans Park Elementary; Carol Royse, Glendover Elementary; Wendy Turner, Paul Laurence Dunbar High School; Amanda Vincent, Rosa Parks Elementary; and Elizabeth Watts, Garden Springs Elementary.
Teachers Who Made a Difference is not a competition. Each year, all submissions are accepted up to a predetermined limit. The 2011 total for honorees was the result of a large increase in interest in the 13-year-old program.
