Tates Creek girls runner-up in track & field

The Tates Creek High School girls’ team was runner-up in the Class 3A State Track and Field Meet, held May 28 at the University of Louisville’s Owsley Frazier Cardinal Park.
Tamyah Pipkin led the way, winning the 100 meters in 12.62 and finishing second in the 200 meters at 25.26.
The Commodores also owned the relays, setting a meet record with a 48.18 in the 100 relay and taking the 200 in 1:41.92 with Pipkin, Tatiyana Dean, Natavia Barber and Michelle Tichenor.
Henry Clay took third in the 200 relay at 1:43.81 with Kelsey Briscoe, Trisha Chism, Anastasia Lyon and Alexis LaPrelle.
Bryan Station’s Sariah Edwards won the 200 meters in 25.07 and was runner-up in the 100 at 12.63. Defenders teammate Labi Frazier got third place in the 400 meters at 57.69.
In the triple jump, Kierra Mohammed of Paul Laurence Dunbar High was runner-up with a 36-00¾ effort.
On the boys’ side, Brandon Nichols of Henry Clay – a two-time state champ in the 400 meters – was a close runner-up at 48.62.

110 hurdles: third, Jacob McLimore, 15.32, Bryan Station.

100 relay: third, Bryan Station, 43.17 (Tre Duncan, Josh Arnett, Loran Smith, Donte Richards).

200 relay: third, Henry Clay, 1:29.41 (Bo Brooks, Jalen Ludwig, Dorian Robinson and Brandon Nichols).

Long jump: third, Tre Duncan, 21-08¾, Bryan Station.

Triple jump: third, Tre Duncan, 45-03, Bryan Station.

High jump: tied for third, Lamont Johnson, 6-02, Dunbar.
In the Region 6 meet the previous weekend, Bryan Station’s boys and Dunbar’s girls ruled the day. The Henry Clay boys’ team finished second, followed by Dunbar. On the girls’ side, Tates Creek was runner-up, followed by Bryan Station.
