Students in grades 5-12 from across the state squared off in the ninth annual Kentucky Science & Engineering Fair, hosted by Eastern Kentucky University.

Among the “Best of Fair” awards, Sahil Nair of Beaumont Middle School placed first in the Physical Sciences category, and the team of Roshan Palli and Joseph Ferguson from Paul Laurence Dunbar High School topped Life Sciences.

First- and second-place “Best of Fair” winners received trophies and an all-expense paid trip to the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in mid-May.

First- and second-place winners in all categories received ribbons and monetary awards after the April 1-2 state contests.
