The PTA’s Reflections program challenges students to create art inspired by a specific theme. This year they explored “Together we can …” through dance choreography, film production, literature, musical composition, photography and visual arts.
Nearly 30 students from Fayette County Public Schools have earned statewide excellence or merit awards, and eight entries will advance to this spring’s national contest. In addition, the judges praised three submissions for creative interpretation.
While the Reflections contest is mainly for fun and recognition, it can also serve as an outlet for students to reflect on what they study in the classroom. When children express themselves through words, pictures, music, dance, film and other art media, they grow intellectually as they learn to analyze their thoughts and feelings.
The theme for 2011-2012 will be “Diversity means ...”
