The 16th District PTA, which encompasses Fayette County Public Schools, has welcomed new officers to two-year terms. Congratulations to the following:
- President: Liza Holland
- 1st vice president: Kathy Smiley
- 2nd vice president: Jaime Nebbitt
- Treasurer: Colleen Wolfe
- Recording secretary: Kate Wood
- Corresponding secretary: Jenni Scutchfield
“I’m so honored and excited about the challenges in front of me,” Holland said, noting how she will rely on the group’s strong foundation and legacy of effective leaders.
Among the PTA’s ongoing goals are expanded communication and collaboration within the community, including a new Facebook page. Holland also urged members to be advocates for such children’s issues as arts in school and healthy lifestyles. Thirdly, the PTA will continue fostering an environment that encourages families to get involved in the schools.
“It shows your child that you care and value education,” she said.
The 16th District PTA presented the slate of officers at its March roundtable meeting and approved them in April. Their 2011-2013 terms began May 19 at the close of the PTA’s annual awards luncheon, held at Fasig-Tipton.
