The 16th District PTA celebrated and thanked its active schools and dedicated volunteers at the annual recognition luncheon, held May 19 at Fasig-Tipton.

Jessica Berry, who ended her two-year term as president, received the Lifetime Achievement Award for her service and commitment.

“It has been an honor and a pleasure. I will forever cherish the experiences and friendships that have come along the way,” she said tearfully.

She singled out her parents for their guidance and support and her daughter for her patience through the long days of meetings and PTA activities. “I do this to improve the quality of life for you and your generation,” Berry told her.

Superintendent Stu Silberman acknowledged Berry’s capable leadership, saying, “Jessica is one of those who is a natural.”

He also credited the 16th District PTA for partnering with FCPS in the pursuit of a world-class education for every student.

“There’s no way for us to be where we are today without your help,” Silberman told the crowd. “When I look around and see what’s happening in our schools because of our PTA’s and volunteers, it’s amazing.”
