Bryan Station High School boasts two of Kentucky’s 14 semifinalists in the annual National Achievement Scholarship Program: sisters Cameron Jackson and Logan Jackson.
They are among the more than 1,600 African-American high school seniors who now will compete for awards worth more than $2.5 million.
About three-quarters of these outstanding students are expected to attain finalist standing, and more than half of the finalists will receive a scholarship. The awards include mostly one-time National Achievement $2,500 scholarships, which are given on a regional representation basis. In addition, corporate and business sponsors will underwrite about 100 scholarships – some renewable for up to four years of undergraduate study.
All winners will be selected on the basis of their abilities, accomplishments and potential for success in rigorous college studies. The results will be announced in April.
