The Lafayette Madrigal Singers delivered an outstanding performance that garnered another win in the annual Margaret Comstock Chamber Choir Competition. It was the group’s sixth top award in this 7-year-old competition, which demands high-quality repertoires and excellence from ensembles.

The Madrigals, directed by Ryan Marsh, competed Feb. 18 against five other choirs from across Kentucky. They squared off in two rounds for a panel of judges and a clinician. After the first performance, the choirs were coached by Kent Hatteberg from the University of Louisville. The field then was narrowed to three choirs, which sang again for final placements.

One of the judges, Barbara Hall of Centre College, praised the Madrigal Singers, saying “Beautiful tone! Remarkable maturity!  Clear, energized, artistic and natural.”
