Online voting runs Jan. 3-14 for the Peoples’ Choice Award in the annual Keep It Real video contest, in which students create short PSA’s to discourage underage drinking.

The contest, now in its seventh year, awards teens up to $200, and the top videos run online, on television and as pre-show ads in local cinemas.

Judges will present the Best Picture grand prize and select individual winners such as Best Cinematography, Best Editing and Best Art Direction, among others. In a new category this year, young composers submitted original music.

The awards program will be Feb. 9 at the historic Kentucky Theatre. Visit http://www.keep-it-real.us/ for more about the competition.

Sponsors include the Kentucky State Police, KY-ASAP, the Mayor’s Alliance on Substance Abuse, Central Baptist Hospital, CSAP drug-free community grant, Lexington Family Magazine, State Farm Insurance, Fusioncorp Design Mediahouse and Video Editing Services.
