The team from Henry Clay High School won the overall competition after more than 500 students squared off in JROTC field day events.
The groups came from 15 schools across southeastern Kentucky and as far away as Virginia and Tennessee. Most were Army JROTC programs, along with one Navy and one Air Force unit.
Sgt. 1st Class Brian Hunt reported that Henry Clay took first place in the male tug of war, the Raider challenge and the two-mile relay, as well as fourth place in the female tug of war.
In the Raider challenge, teams of eight compete to see who can finish an obstacle course with the fastest times. Other events include an academic challenge, weightlifting and color guard.
The 14th annual regional competition was Feb. 26 in Corbin.
