Thirty-six students from Fayette County Public Schools are among this summer’s class in the Governor’s School for the Arts, where they will study in one of nine disciplines: architecture, creative writing, dance, drama, instrumental music, musical theater, new media, visual art or vocal music.

The rising juniors and seniors will spend June 19 to July 9 at Transylvania University immersed in seminars, workshops, field trips and more.

Participants will receive full tuition, room and board, the chance to learn in a supportive community of distinguished master-teachers and an opportunity to audition for scholarships at top colleges and universities. They also will present a Student Performance Festival.

Statewide, more than 1,600 students apply for GSA each year, and 225 are selected.
