Dunbar unchallenged in Governor’s Cup regionals

Paul Laurence Dunbar High School continued its roll through the 2011 Governor’s Cup, dominating the Region 11 contest that wrapped up Feb. 19.
Henry Clay High School was in the middle of the pack in sixth place, while Lafayette and Tates Creek tied for 10th in the field of 16 area high schools.
The Governor’s Cup was founded in 1986 as a way to promote and reward outstanding achievement. Kentucky’s premier academic competition, it consists of five written assessment exams, composition (on-demand writing), future problem-solving and quick recall (also known as quiz bowl).

In the elementary division of Governor’s Cup, students take part in a district and regional competition. The middle grades and high school divisions include a district, regional and state competition.
The high school state finals are March 12-14.
