The 16th District PTA, which encompasses all of Fayette County Public Schools, has launched a community-level PTA for anyone interested in supporting local education and promoting the well-being of all students.

Education Advocates will bring together individuals, businesses and community organizations that recognize the importance of focusing on a crucial investment – children.

The group will build on the great things that the almost 10,000 PTA members citywide are already doing, with opportunities to encourage family involvement as well as develop parent leaders throughout Lexington.

“We are proud to have as our first member Superintendent Stu Silberman,” said Liza Holland, first vice president of the 16th District PTA, who cited his leadership and example.

“It is so important that we, staff and families, work closely together for the benefit of our kids.  Joining the PTA and becoming an advocate is one way to start that process,” Silberman said.

Everyone is invited to join Education Advocates to pursue the vision of making every child’s potential a reality. It’s an opportunity for individuals to get involved in education whether or not they have school-age children. If people do have children in school, they are encouraged to join their local PTA first.
