All-state choirs filled with young vocalists from grades 5-6 and 7-9 recently presented a concert at Porter Memorial Baptist Church.

The youngsters gathered and rehearsed during the Kentucky chapter of the American Choral Directors Association’s fall convocation in Lexington. Their performance was Nov. 6.

Susan Davenport, director of choral activities at Southern Illinois University, guided the SSA choir; Ken Berg, music minister and composer-in-residence at Mountain Brook Baptist Church in Birmingham, Ala., directed the SATB choir; and Josh Pedde, assistant director for the Indianapolis Children’s Choir, led the children’s choir.

(SSA = first soprano, second soprano, alto; SATB = soprano, alto, tenor, bass; children’s choir in two parts)
