Teens tackle entrepreneurship at Sullivan

Twenty-five rising juniors and seniors in FCPS participated in this summer’s Entrepreneur Leadership Institute at Sullivan University.

During the weeklong program in June, the teens interacted with local business leaders, completed the Myers-Briggs personality assessment and team-building exercises, and developed business plans. Their winning ideas included:

1st place: Ace Party Planning, offering flexible, inexpensive events for teens and young adults. Team members included Jamal Walker and Brianna Simpson of Tates Creek High School; Olivia Burkett of Bryan Station High; Faina Matveeva of Henry Clay High; and Jordan Craig of Lafayette High.

2nd place: Beavers & Wangs Unltd., featuring customized athletic apparel with convenient zippers. This team included Isaiah Rice and Chloe Atkins of Tates Creek High; Kevin Wang of Paul Laurence Dunbar High; and Preston Bell and James Wang of Henry Clay High.

3rd place: Clarity Polarized Screen Protectors, cutting the glare on cell phone screens. The team included Phillip Sendlein of Lafayette High; Cole Guthrie of Bryan Station High; Kiara Ingram of Tates Creek High; Ashley Kirchner of Henry Clay High; and Deepa Singh of Paul Laurence Dunbar High.
