Students from Eastside and Southside technical centers turned out in force – with 62 competitors apiece – for the SkillsUSA regional contests. Combined, they made up almost half the participants from the North Central Region who gathered March 5 at Bluegrass Community & Technical College.

Gold-medal winners earned a scholarship for tuition for one course at BCTC. In addition, Ohio Technical College awarded scholarships in the welding and automotive categories: $3,000 for 3rd place, $4,000 for 2nd place and $6,000 for 1st place.

The SkillsUSA state conference is April 6-9 in Louisville.

SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry representatives working to ensure that the United States has a skilled workforce.
