More than 175 of the finest young scientists from across the state competed in the eighth annual Kentucky Science & Engineering Fair.

Students from Paul Laurence Dunbar High led the way among Fayette County schools. Jeremy Zhao took Best of Fair honors in medicine and health sciences, and Tamas Nagy and Patrick Michael were runners-up for Best of Fair team honors.

First- and second-place Best of Fair winners in the senior division received trophies and an all-expense paid trip to the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in mid-May.

First- and second-place winners in all categories received ribbons and monetary awards after the April 2-3 contests at Eastern Kentucky University.
