In an ongoing effort to provide students and their families easy access to the latest happenings in Fayette County Public Schools, the district now offers RSS feeds as well as Twitter updates.

RSS stands for “Really Simple Syndication” – a way to distribute Web content to a large number of people. Instead of repeatedly checking www.fcps.net for new feature articles or press releases, for example, people can subscribe to free RSS feeds that will funnel the content directly to them. As content is posted on the Web site, the RSS feed will list the results, typically from newest to oldest.

Visit www.fcps.net/feeds for more information on RSS and details on how to sign up for feeds. Or look for the orange RSS icon under “Latest news” on the FCPS home page.

As of this fall, the district also has a Twitter account, as does Superintendent Stu Silberman.

Twitter is a free service that lets people keep in touch through the exchange of quick, frequent answers to one simple question: What are you doing?
