Expounding on the theme “Beauty is …,” nearly four dozen students from Fayette County Public Schools earned statewide recognition in the Kentucky PTA’s Reflections contest, and 11 entries will advance to the national competition.

The National PTA encourages students to pursue artistic expression through its annual Reflections program, which since 1968 has offered kids a chance to create works of art for fun and recognition. The program has six categories: dance choreography, film production, literature, musical composition, photography and visual arts (including such media as drawing, painting, print-making and collage).

This year, nearly three dozen schools across Fayette County participated as students submitted more than 200 entries through their local PTA or PTSA. District-level winners were announced in December (archived results).
