Each year the 16^th District PTA offers a monetary award to a senior from each of the five high schools, both technical centers and the Martin Luther King Jr. Academy of Excellence.

Scholarships are based on need, on school, extracurricular or work activities, and overall GPA. Award amounts vary depending on donations, however, the standing rules of the District PTA mandate a minimum $500 award. This year the scholarship committee hopes to at least double that to a minimum $1,000.

• Application – The deadline is March 26.

The winners will be invited to the PTA’s May 20 awards luncheon. The scholarships will be paid directly to the college or school the student is enrolled in for the fall 2010 semester.
