Stella Smith, coordinator of the school district's Parent Resource Center, has received the Betty Triplett Award from the Kentucky Partnership for Families and Children.

This honor goes to an outstanding professional who has demonstrated exceptional achievement in offering services, leading a program, advocating or going beyond the call of duty for children and families dealing with emotional, social or behavioral disabilities.

“I love helping families. That’s my passion,” Smith said, adding, “You never know the impact you have.”

Rachel Baker, a Special Education administrator for FCPS, nominated her for the statewide recognition – citing her ability to build lasting relationships through genuine caring and her role as a catalyst for parents to trust the educators to whom they entrust their children with special needs.

Smith was recognized at a Dec. 12 awards luncheon in Frankfort, where she received a plaque and a $500 check.
