KMEA honors a dozen school orchestras

The Kentucky Music Educators Association recognized a dozen Fayette County schools with its new Orchestra Program of Excellence Award.

 

This honor goes to programs that achieved a high level of performance both within and outside KMEA orchestra-sponsored events. The distinction levels of gold, silver and bronze are determined by the total number of points earned using the KMEA Orchestra Program of Excellence application and verification of the supporting materials.

 

The FCPS schools and their orchestra directors receiving certificates for 2008-2009 were:

 
  • Beaumont Middle School, Cindy Higgins, gold level
  • Bryan Station High School, Pat Price, gold level
  • Bryan Station Traditional Middle School, Bonnie Sue Hughes, gold level
  • Edythe J. Hayes Middle School, Sara Francis, gold level
  • Henry Clay High School, Julie Foster, gold level
  • Jessie M. Clark Middle School, April Martin, gold level
  • Lafayette High School, Jennifer Grice and Fred Speck, gold level
  • Leestown Middle School, Nathan Wilson, silver level
  • Morton Middle School, Paula Williams, gold level
  • Paul Laurence Dunbar High School, Rebecca Goff, gold level
  • SCAPA, Nancy Campbell, gold level
  • Winburn Middle School, Ellen Dennison and Patti Stanton, gold level
