Twelve local middle schools participated in the annual Fayette County Academic Team Tournament, which Morton hosted Dec. 12.

In the quick-recall format competition, Winburn placed first in the gold division, followed by Lexington Traditional Magnet School. In the silver division, Bryan Station Traditional Magnet finished first, and Edythe J. Hayes Middle came in second.

Beaumont, Jessie Clark and Morton middle schools also participated, along with five private schools.
