This year’s World Language Festival was the largest ever in Fayette County Public Schools, with a record number of 973 entries – up from about 800 last spring. The growth in language instruction and student participation prompted the move to an all-day Saturday format for the annual festival.

Students demonstrated their language skills and cultural knowledge at the April 17 event, hosted by Bryan Station High School. During the proficiency segments, judges assessed them in reading, recitation, dialogue, writing, and oral and listening ability. In the cultural assessments, students performed in such areas as chorus, dance, drama, costuming, art and video productions.
