Dozens of students in Fayette County Public Schools brought home awards from the Kentucky History Day district contest, which Georgetown College hosted March 6. Six schools and more than 100 students participated in the District 6 competition.

Kentucky History Day is part of National History Day, an annual, year-long program designed to promote the teaching and learning of history. Students analyze the historical significance of their topics and present conclusions in dramatic performances, imaginative exhibits, multimedia documentaries, Web sites and research papers.

This year’s theme is “Innovation in History: Impact and Change.”
