Winburn cruises in Governor’s Cup regionals

Winburn Middle School pulled away from the field in the 2010 Governor’s Cup regional competition, which concluded Feb. 13. Lexington Traditional Magnet School finished second, and Morton Middle was third, followed closely by Beaumont.
The Governor’s Cup was founded in 1986 as a way to promote, reward and recognize outstanding achievement. Kentucky’s premier academic competition, Governor's Cup consists of five written assessment exams, composition (on-demand writing), future problem-solving and quick recall (also known as quiz bowl).

The middle school state finals are March 13-15.
In Governor’s Cup, the middle grades and high school divisions include a district, regional and state competition. In the elementary division, students take part in a district and regional competition.
