“This has been a goal of mine,” said Kirk, who was the professional staff assistant at Cassidy Elementary for the past three years and taught at Southern Elementary the previous seven.

“I’m very excited to join such a strong community at Deep Springs,” he said. “It’s an honor to follow in the footsteps of such a great leadership tradition.”

Kirk said he plans to build on the progress there and continue pursuing proficiency for all the students. “They are on the rise,” he said.

“Adam’s expertise in technology and curriculum, coupled with his ability to connect with people, will serve him well in his new role as principal,” said Julie Hawkins, an elementary schools director at “It’s About Kids” Support Services. “If you know Adam, you know he is determined, hardworking and full of enthusiasm.”

Superintendent Stu Silberman echoed her praise, saying, “Adam brings a lot of experience from his work as a PSA at Cassidy Elementary School. We look forward to Deep Springs continuing to move forward.”

Kirk, 33, earned a B.A. in kinesiology and health promotion and a master’s in administration supervision at the University of Kentucky. Growing up here, he attended Linlee Elementary, Winburn Junior High and Paul Laurence Dunbar High School.

Kirk enjoys music and exercise. While teaching at Southern Elementary, he was co-director of the Performance Troupe, an ensemble of students that integrated dance, singing and instruments.

His wife, Erin, teaches fourth grade at Stonewall Elementary. They have three children: 3-year-old Brady and 1-year-old twins Cooper and Campbell.
