Fred Snodgrass, who is the associate principal at Leestown Middle School, will become head principal at Bryan Station Middle School on July 1.
Snodgrass has more than 11 years of experience in education, having been a classroom teacher, special education assistant, dean of students and associate principal. He began his teaching career in the Fayette County Public Schools in 1999 and has worked at Athens, Tates Creek and Yates elementaries and Leestown Middle.
“I’m overjoyed and excited about being named principal at Bryan Station Middle, and I look forward to working with the dedicated and passionate staff to continue efforts to increase student achievement at the school,” said Snodgrass, who was raised in Lexington and attended Northern Elementary, Winburn Middle and Bryan Station High School.
“As a native Lexingtonian, I’m familiar with the students in the Bryan Station Middle School attendance area,” he said. “I feel this familiarity will assist me with building positive relations with students and families.”
Superintendent Stu Silberman had high praise for Snodgrass.
“Fred has done an outstanding job at Leestown Middle as an associate principal,” Silberman said. “We believe his experience will help Bryan Station Middle continue to move forward.”
Middle School Director Kelley Crain agreed.
“Fred is a person of integrity who works tirelessly to make a difference in the lives of students in his current role at Leestown Middle School and will bring that same devotion and energy to Bryan Station Middle School,” Crain said. “His commitment to students, focus on effective teaching and learning, and experiences as an educator and associate principal make him well suited for his new role as principal.”
Snodgrass said he looks forward to joining the strong team at Bryan Station Middle and supporting the growth happening on campus.
“The pieces are all there – parents, community, students, teachers, staff and administration – to make Bryan Station Middle one of the top middle schools in the state,” he said. “I believe that if we all work together, we can achieve that goal.”
Snodgrass, 36, is engaged to be married to Kimberly Hill this summer. He earned his bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Kentucky State University and his master’s degree in school administration at the University of Kentucky. Snodgrass is pursuing his Rank 1 certification at Eastern Kentucky University.
