Winburn won the 2008 Bulldog Middle School Invitational Academic Tournament, hosted Nov. 8 by Paul Laurence Dunbar High School.

Thirty teams participated, and two of the top ones were from Fayette County. Lexington Traditional Magnet School came in third.

The Winburn team included Melanie Schmocker, Valerie Sarge, Alyssa Liew, Chloe Cao, Vania Ma and Alex Sottile. They are coached by MaryBeth Moffat, Chad Peavler and Theresa Buczek.
