As of noon today, seven schools were still without power after the ice and snowstorm that pounded the state this week: Squires Elementary, Booker T. Washington Academy (primary and intermediate buildings), Crawford Middle, Garden Springs Elementary, Beaumont Middle, Glendover Elementary and Dixie Elementary.

Districtwide, school has been cancelled for Friday, Jan. 30.

The last day of school for kids was supposed to be May 28, but because of inclement weather cancellations, here’s where things stand:

School day missed / Make-up date:

• Dec. 16 / Feb. 13

• Jan. 16 / March 6

• Jan. 26 / May 19

• Jan. 27 / May 29

• Jan. 28 / June 1

• Jan. 29 / June 2

• Jan. 30 / June 3

That leaves four remaining make-up days, if needed: June 4, June 5, June 8 and June 9. Any more beyond that would have to be approved by the Fayette County Board of Education. 

As of today, June 3 will be the last day of school for kids.
