Tates Creek Middle School is a candidate for the Middle Years Programme authorized by the International Baccalaureate Organization. If eventually approved, Tates Creek would join IB World Schools that share a common philosophy and a commitment to high quality through challenging, international education.
“The process to be declared a ‘candidate school’ required a lot paperwork, including two applications, letters of intent, district support and the IB training of eight teachers and two administrators. We are ready and very excited to start our candidacy year as the first IB Middle Years Programme in the state of Kentucky,” said Marie CC Conger, the school’s IB coordinator.
The MYP is designed to help students develop the knowledge, understanding, attitudes and skills necessary to participate actively and responsibly in a changing world (see www.ibo.org.) The program’s five areas of interaction are: approaches to learning, community and service, human ingenuity, environment, health, and social education.
IB World Schools can offer one of three academic programs: the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP), the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) or the IB Diploma Programme. Candidate status is no guarantee that authorization will be granted.
