State Board of Education honors Silberman

Fayette County Superintendent Stu Silberman was congratulated at the April 1 state Board of Education meeting for his many accomplishments, including selection as Kentucky’s Superintendent of the Year and advancement to the “Final Four” for the national award.
Resolution Honoring Stu Silberman by the Kentucky Board of Education
Whereas, Stu Silberman has been an educator for over 35 years and is currently superintendent of the Fayette County Public Schools, where he has served since 2004;
Whereas, Stu Silberman has focused his career on what is best for students, with his well-known mantra being “It’s About Kids”;
Whereas, Stu Silberman has exhibited outstanding leadership as superintendent in two Kentucky school districts by focusing on reaching proficiency, closing achievement gaps and holding all students to high expectations;
Whereas, Stu Silberman has enhanced the quality of the superintendency in Kentucky by teaching in the new superintendent training program, serving as a mentor in the minority superintendent intern program and serving as a role model to six members of his cabinets who have gone on to become superintendents;
Whereas, Stu Silberman is held in high regard by citizens, colleagues and students across the state;
Whereas, Stu Silberman has twice been named Kentucky Superintendent of the Year by the Kentucky Association of School Administrators and in 2009 was chosen as one of four finalists nationwide for the National Superintendent of the Year Award;
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Kentucky Board of Education to congratulate Stu Silberman on the many honors bestowed on him at both the state and national levels and thank him for his outstanding service to the students of this Commonwealth.
