Teams from three schools that fared well in the May 2 regional LEGO robotics competition will now advance to the state contest:

  • Jessie Clark Middle School (Ryan Booth, Ben Eckert, Nic Quammen and Seth Rogers), 1st place, middle school division
  • Tates Creek Middle School, (Josh Phillips and Kenneth Porter), 2nd place, middle school division
  • James Lane Allen Elementary (Jacob Rickert and Aldon Morse), 2nd place, elementary division

The robotics contest will be part of the Student Technology Leadership Program’s state championship later this month at the Lexington Convention Center. Nearly 300 schools will be represented, with some of the best STLP projects in the state on display. Students will also bring digital music, video, writing and art products and will compete in many areas of technology during live demonstrations, presentations and panels.

The May 21 event is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with the awards ceremony starting at 6 p.m. in Rupp Arena.
