The National PTA believes that all children deserve a quality arts education and encourages students to pursue artistic expression through its annual Reflections program, which offers kids a chance to create works of art for fun and recognition.

Students can submit work in six areas: dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography and visual arts (which includes drawing, painting, print-making and collage). The Kentucky PTA also recognizes dance performance, though those statewide winners do not advance to compete at the national level.

Across Fayette County, a total of 27 schools and 116 students participated this year. The top medalists were Meadowthorpe Elementary and Paul Laurence Dunbar High with four apiece.
