Eleven students from Fayette County Public Schools earned “excellence” awards in the Kentucky PTA’s statewide Reflections competition. Congratulations to these outstanding artists:

• Dance choreography: Elora Mukhopadhyay, 1^st in primary division, Stonewall Elementary; Han Shi, 3^rd in senior division, Paul Laurence Dunbar High School.
• Film production: Nicholas Skidmore, 3^rd in primary division, Picadome Elementary; Sam Stucky, 1^st in middle division, Bryan Station Traditional Magnet School.
• Literature: Jacob Ernst, 2^nd in primary division, Rosa Parks Elementary.
• Music composition: Ben Henault, 2^nd in intermediate division, Rosa Parks Elementary; Matthew Hensley, 1^st in senior division, Paul Laurence Dunbar High School.
• Photography: Michael Hall, 1^st in middle division, Lexington Traditional Magnet School.
• Visual arts: William Ding, 2^nd in primary division, Athens-Chilesburg Elementary; Corrine Elliot, 3^rd in middle division, Morton Middle School; Elise Beckman, 2^nd in senior division, Paul Laurence Dunbar High School.

Reflections is a cultural arts program established by the national PTA in 1968. Students may submit entries in several categories: literature, musical composition, photography, visual arts, dance choreography, dance performance and film/video.

Entries are judged at the local, district and state levels. This year, more than 12,000 entries were submitted at the local level. Of those, 1,240 eventually were sent in for statewide judging.

Kentucky PTA subsequently submitted 24 top entries for the national contest. No students from FCPS placed.
