When the weather is cold, Fayette County Public School leaders keep an eye on the temperature and weigh several factors when deciding whether to cancel or delay school.

School administrators consider the ambient air temperature, wind chill and level of precipitation to determine if any action is necessary. The district’s main concern is the safety of students, staff and employees.

As soon as FCPS makes a decision that affects school schedules, details are publicized on Channel 13 and on the district’s home page. The information also is shared with local media, including television and radio stations.
