One of the “B” teams at Paul Laurence Dunbar High School has won the Kentucky state title in the National Academic Quiz Tournament, held April 18 at the University of Louisville. 

The team – Idrees Kahloon, Matt Hensley, Tamas Nagy and Victor Macrinici – consisted of three JV players and one junior. 

“This was an incredible accomplishment (and amazing upset statewide) for these young men, who went into this varsity tournament ranked very low and managed to win the entire thing,” said coach Susan Magedanz.  

She was especially proud of this team because the kids essentially coached themselves at the tournament while she was away with the “A” team at a regional contest in Virginia.
