The cheerleading squads at Paul Laurence Dunbar High School excelled in the recent state competition in Bowling Green.

The black team won the Large Varsity division, securing their 12th state championship. This group also snagged the Region 12 title.

Also, Dunbar’s red team took top honors in the Super Large division of Region 12 competition and was runner-up at state.

“It is pretty exciting to see 44 girls to win such high honors. Very few schools can put together two squads that are this successful, especially with limited practice due to the ice storm,” said coach Donna G. Martin. “It was a great team effort of girls, coaches and parents.”
