The Ninth-Grade Improvement Awards were launched more than 10 years ago as a way to encourage students who may have had a rough start to high school but have turned the corner and found the path to success.
These awards are important because they honor determination, effort and resiliency. The recipients have proven themselves to be tough and shown that they’re capable of success.
Five of this year’s award winners were deemed by their schools to be the most improved ninth-graders overall. Each receives an MP3 player, courtesy of Dell Inc.:
- Godfred Boateng, Paul Laurence Dunbar High School
- Cori Butler, Tates Creek High School
- Brad Edwards, Bryan Station High School
- Kory LaPrelle, Henry Clay High School
- Jose Locker, Lafayette High School
