FCPS celebrates 10 more National Merit winners

Ten Fayette County Public Schools students join the more than 1,900 additional winners of college-sponsored scholarships announced today by the National Merit Scholarship Corp. These awards provide between $500 and $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study.
The sponsor colleges selected their winners from among finalists in the National Merit competition who will attend their school. More than 2,800 recipients were named in May, including nine students from FCPS.
This final group of winners brings the total number of 2008 National Merit Scholars to about 8,300. These distinguished graduates will receive scholarships for undergraduate study worth roughly $36 million. For more information, go to www.nationalmerit.org.

Brian Z. Burdine, computer science, University of Kentucky;
Elizabeth N. Riley, public health, Washington University in St. Louis.
From Lafayette High School:
Daniel C. Jackson, engineering, Vanderbilt University.
From Paul Laurence Dunbar High School:
Elizabeth A. Byers, finance, University of Kentucky;
Sagar A. Chokshi, medicine, Washington University in St. Louis;
Jennifer H. Griffith, education, Centre College;
Julia F. Li, engineering, University of Washington;
Margaret S. Pan, medicine, Vanderbilt;
