Fayette County schools were well-represented at the 2009 statewide World Language Festival, sponsored by the Kentucky World Language Association. More than 1,500 students from across Kentucky participated May 16 at the University of Kentucky.

• Chinese (middle schools): 1^st Crawford; 2^nd LTMS
• French (high schools): 2^nd Lafayette; 3^rd Paul Laurence Dunbar
• Latin (high schools): 3^rd Henry Clay
• Japanese (middle schools): 1^st Jessie Clark
• Spanish (high schools): 2^nd Bryan Station
• Spanish (middle schools): 3^rd Bryan Station

Individual results

The KWLA will host an awards ceremony Sept. 19 to recognize first-place winners in the high school language proficiency assessments.
