Meadowthorpe comes out on top in Governor’s Cup

Meadowthorpe Elementary School finished at the top of the final regional standings in the 2009 Governor’s Cup, Kentucky’s premier academic event. Dixie Elementary Magnet School was second, and Rosa Parks Elementary came in third.
Maxwell Spanish Immersion Magnet School received the Hume Sportsmanship Award.
The Governor’s Cup was founded in 1986 as a way to promote, reward and recognize outstanding academic achievement. In the elementary division, students take part in district and regional competition. Middle and high schools also compete on the state level.
Seventeen Fayette County public and private elementary schools participated in the Region 20 contests March 21 at Lexington Catholic High School.
