The Fayette County Board of Education has declared the former Julia R. Ewan Elementary School at 350 Henry Clay Blvd. to be surplus property and hired Schrader Commercial Properties and Swinebroad-Denton Auctioneers to sell the former school building and its surrounding property.
Julia R. Ewan Elementary was closed in May 2008 upon completion of the new Liberty Elementary School, which was built to accommodate the growing student population in the Hamburg and Winchester Road areas.
The school system selected Schrader Commercial Properties and Swinebroad-Denton to market and auction the property after a request for proposals from qualified real estate marketing companies and thorough interview process. Schrader Commercial’s and Swinebroad-Denton’s extensive experience in the sale of commercial properties, as well as their competitive proposal, led to their selection.
Plans call for the building and 4.6 acres to be sold by auction at the site at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 23. All interested parties will have a chance to purchase the property in an open bidding process. The property will be open for inspection from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 9 and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 17.
Swinebroad-Denton, with auctioneers Walt Robertson and Tom Biederman, is a leading central Kentucky auctioneer and was involved in the auctions of Calumet Farm, Spendthrift Farm and the former Wallace Wilkinson land development at Winchester Road. Schrader Commercial Properties, owned by broker Jamie Schrader with operations principally in central Kentucky, serves clients in all aspects of commercial real estate including sales, leasing and property management.
