A team from Paul Laurence Dunbar High School is the state Economics Challenge champion.
Griffin MacDougall, Kevin Cordingle, Jue Wang and Kyle Greywall will advance to the regionals in Atlanta, where they will compete for $1,000 U.S. savings bonds and an all-expense paid trip to the national contest in New York City.
Students from nine Kentucky high schools participated online in the preliminary round of the Economics Challenge, sponsored by the Kentucky Council on Economic Education. Paul Laurence Dunbar, the only participant from Fayette County Public Schools, sent four teams on to the state-level quiz bowl March 25.
The Economics Challenge aims to honor and reward high achievers through competition and to showcase outstanding high school economics courses and teachers.
