LTMS tops in Colonels’ Showcase

Lexington Traditional Magnet School was the overall winner in the latest Kentucky Colonels’ Sixth-Grade Showcase. The competition included quick recall and written assessment in the areas of science, social studies, math, language arts, and arts and humanities.
Winburn Middle School came in second, Beaumont was third, and Edythe J. Hayes finished fifth. Three other schools from outside Fayette County also participated.
“These students did an excellent job representing LTMS not only with their intellectual prowess but also by their exemplary behavior,” said David J. Wilson, Latin teacher and academic team coach at LTMS.
LTMS placed first in the quick recall contest, led by starters Elliott Beach, Alice Li, Will Walters and Eric Xiong. Winburn finished second, and Beaumont was third. Among other results:
Language Arts assessment: 1st: Alice Li, LTMS; 2nd: Christopher Browning, Winburn; 3rd: Elaine Lin, Beaumont.
Mathematics: T1st: Angela Tseng, Winburn; T1st: Elaine Lin, Beaumont; 3rd: Eric Xiong, LTMS.
Science: 1st: Elliott Beach, LTMS; 3rd: Chelsea Southworth, Winburn.
Social Studies: 1st: Eric Xiong, LTMS; 3rd: Daniel Ma, Winburn.
Arts and Humanities: 1st: Angela Maske, LTMS; 2nd: Meghana Kudrimooti, Winburn; 3rd: Lucy Wan, Winburn.
