Two seniors at Paul Laurence Dunbar High School are among our state’s Presidential Scholars semifinalists.
Elizabeth Byers and Victor Yang were among 13 candidates from Fayette County Public Schools. These two have advanced as semifinalists, along with seven other Kentucky students. The winners, including two from our state, will be announced in May.
The Presidential Scholars Program is not a scholarship program, but is one of the nation’s greatest honors for high school students. The nonpartisan, public-private partnership is designed to recognize and provide leadership development experiences. The scholars travel to Washington, D.C., in June for five days of educational, celebratory and fellowship activities.
All graduating high school seniors who are U.S. citizens and have scored exceptionally well on either the SAT or the ACT are automatically considered for participation.
