“Raise the Roof”/Promote Autism Awareness Volleyball Night at Henry Clay High School is set for Thursday, September 20th, 2007 and will highlight two of the top local volleyball teams (Henry Clay and Paul Lawrence Dunbar) in the area as they square off in district competition.
In an effort to promote the sport of volleyball in the Lexington area, this match is attempting to “Raise the Roof” with an attendance record for this sport. Current record is 514 set at the 2000 “Raise the Roof” event. The goal is to have over 1000 in attendance as Henry Clay and Dunbar compete in freshmen competition at 5:30 pm; Junior Varsity competition at 6:30 pm; and concluding with Varsity action at 7:30 pm.
In addition to the great volleyball action, the night is also very important as a fundraiser and a vehicle to promote awareness about Autism (Over past nine years – close to $3800.00 has been donated to the local Autism Chapter). A portion of the proceeds on the evening will once again be going to the Autism Society of the Bluegrass. Information on autism will be provided and/or available throughout the evening.
There are tickets being pre-sold for this event, however tickets can be purchased at the door that evening for $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for students.
Come on out to help “Raise the Roof” and enjoy some great volleyball and at the same time promote and raise some money for Autism.
